For many years, safari operators in the Luangwa Valley have supported the South Luangwa Conservation Society (SLCS) and North Luangwa Conservation Project (NLCP), which in turn work with the Zambia Wildlife Authority to manage the region’s flora and fauna. Additioanlly, many safari operators run individual educational and conservation programmes, with NCS at the forefront of commuity outreach. The late Norman Carr pioneered support for education and conservation in Mfuwe more than 60 years ago, and the NCS team continues this legacy today.
To ensure the continuance of these efforts, along with many of the other Luangwa safari operators, we have introduced to our rates a donation of $10 per person per night to the “Luangwa Conservation & Community Fund”. The funds will be split between:
- South Luangwa Conservation Society
- Kapani School Project
- Chipembele Wildlife Education Trust
We hope that guests will be happy to know that by coming on safari to South Luangwa, they have already contributed a great deal to both the local economy and charitable organisations in the fields of conservation and education. The extra contribution of the LCCF ensures the sustainability of the Luangwa’s wildlife and environment and funds education for hundreds of children who otherwise would not be able to attend school.
