Huge news and happy new year!

The river is rising, the bush is lush, green and bursting with life, Kakuli is open for Rivers and Rainbows - the first intrepid guests have gone up river and we're already enjoying 2012 with more elephants than you can count around the camps.

And now for the huge news.................

We are proud to announce that we have been joined by some exciting new partners – a private investment group represented by Thierry Dalais and Alex Hardy who have a great deal of experience in tourism developments in unique and important wildlife areas. Their philosophies all match our own and they value the true wilderness of the Luangwa and our wonderful staff – 'it is all about the experience, and Norman Carr Safaris has so much to offer and develop further.' - Thierry Dalais.

The group also has an interest in the delightful Chongwe River Lodge in the Lower Zambezi with whom NCS has worked for many years and we look forward to strengthening that relationship.

The legacy, the history, the quality of the people and the authenticity of the experience is what impressed them and together we have a vision to build on this. The management team, still led by Dave Wilson, Christina (Gid) and Adrian Carr together with our talented team, plus welcome help from some experts in design and green technology, will see to the improvement of our offering. The camps will stay small, wild and close to nature, and our commitment to conservation and the community is still at the forefront of everything we do.

But now – with the investment and innovation the new owners bring we’ll be able to improve levels of service and experience and fully realize our vision of being the best little safari company in Africa; one of the last to be able to offer a truly authentic wilderness experience as close to the true wild as it's possible to be - in safety and comfort. Return to the wild with The Original Safari Company and watch this space for more news – for more details contact Christina (Gid) and the team on kapani@normancarrsafaris.com

Welcome Emmanuel
Welcome Emmanuel

  • Abraham Banda will be travelling to the UK to attend Destinations Travel Show at Earls Court - 2 – 5 Feb with Expert Africa. He’ll also be spending some time with the naturalist and journalist - Simon Barnes – on a ‘London Safari’ and popping in to say hi to a few friends.
  • Emmanuel Njobvu has joined the Reservations team – many of you will remember Emmanuel as the ever smiling and highly efficient waiter at Mchenja and Kakuli. He joined NCS as a builder in 2007 helping to build the dining room on the deck at Kapani. His potential shone brightly and he was selected for waiter training and invited to join the staff permanently. His work at bushcamps, where he always went the extra mile, marked him out as a great candidate for further training and he completed a Certificate in Travel and Tourism. He has now joined the Reservations team and is training with Collins and Mindy – well done Emmanuel and welcome to the team! He is stepping in to the seat left by Paul Manda who left us in December for Lusaka – we wish Paul all the very best and thank him for all his hard work. Mindy and Collins are busy sharing their knowledge and experience with Emmanuel. If you'd like to drop him a line to say hello - he is on reservations@normancarsafaris.com
  • We still have spaces for Rivers and Rainbows - this time in the Luangwa is one of the most spectacular and exciting - and remember - the Elephants Never Forget offer gives repeat guests a 15% discount on this already very reasonably priced safari adventure.

Please don't hesitate to contact us for any information about our new set up, for safari ideas, wildlife updates, rates or anything at all - we're at your service as usual!
