A few wild highlights
The safari season is well underway and the camps are buzzing with activity. Game viewing has been exceptional as you may know if you have been following our regular Facebook and Twitter sightings - you can access these from the front page of our website at www.normancarrsafaris.com

Walking safaris have been particularly exciting – guests witnessed a tense leopard/hyena stand off on a walk, but happily - discretion being the better part of valour, both retired with dignity intact, the leopard climbing a tree and the hyena suddenly remembering he had an urgent appointment!

Lion chasing a herd of over 350 buffalo – the earth shook beneath guests feet as the herd evaded the hunters. Lions in trees being circled by hyena; leopard and hyena on a giraffe carcass, the Luwi pride with 6 cubs on a kill near camp, leopard fighting with baboons; porcupine families, leopard taking a big male puku; leopard and cub almost in Luwi Camp and of course the less obviously dramatic but just as exciting – Pel's fishing owl, a family of ground hornbills with FIVE young, huge flocks of Lillian's love birds and - wild dog. We believe they may be thinking of denning again between Luwi and Nsolo. We’ll keep you updated on that. And still Batwell Mvula – our scout at Nsolo seems to find time to paint!

In all the excitement NCS staff still managed to put together a team to take part in the SLCS Fun run – go to www.slcszambia.org to find out about the important work of the South Luangwa Conservation Society. The annual Fun Run is a really excellent way to bring everyone in the community together in the spirit of friendly competition and raises the profile of SLCS and the importance of conservation to the economy of the Luangwa. Dave Wilson – our MD and also Adrian Carr are both Trustees of SLCS.
