NEW 'SECURITY TAX' AT ZAMBIAN AIRPORTS

The National Airports Corporation Zambia has introduced a "security charge" payable at all NACZ airports in Zambia, effective from the beginning of January - ie as of NOW! It applies to all scheduled and charter passengers departing from any NACZ airport.

The charge of $3 per sector (domestic flights) is effective at Lusaka, Livingstone, Ndola and Mfuwe and can be paid at the same time as departure tax.

Those in transit pay the security charge at the airport of departure - same as departure tax.

A US$5 international security charge has also been implemented (Lusaka and Livingstone). Currently this is NOT included in the ticket prices so passengers are having to queue up and pay before checkng in to their international flights. This is causing long queues and inconvenience - change is a problem so please advise clients to have the correct cash - in "large head" US dollars and check in at least 3 hours prior to departure.

We're told that the new international security charge will soon be included in the price of international tickets. No-one has actually explained exactly what the charge is for yet!! We assume for increased costs due to heightened security checks but if it is NOT that - I will let you know!
