Ray Betros, September '08

We had a great trip - and, with 3 (4 if you count a distant sighting) sightings of leopard, you can keep your hat for sun protection!! We saw "Alice" on evening of the second day and then on a night drive a couple of days later a single leopard walking along a clearing. Finally a male eating an impala in a tree, a female with 2 cubs came along. So, unusually we saw 4 leopards at the same site. Lion (lots of, day & night) and wild dogs (3 days running and a chase and almost a kill) added additional spice. I do not think we went a single day without seeing one of the 3. However, we also enjoyed the variety of game and the excitement of not knowing what would be next. Maybe a herd of > 200 buffalo or, for example, we did see hartebeest - but only once - so that made it special. The smaller nocturnal animals were lots of fun. And just the relaxing sight of a clearing with "common" animals grazing peacefully.

By way of feedback:

  • Staff were unfailingly pleasant, polite, friendly, remembered our names etc. They are a great crew. Nothing was ever too much effort, any request was cheerfully fulfilled.
  • The accommodation was great, with the individual nature of each lodge adding an extra sense of delight. Importantly, everything was always clean and tidy.
  • We have all put on weight!!! The food was totally fabulous - really 1st class. Avril continually commented you may loose the chefs to the London scene.
  • The guides were very knowledgeable - and answered all our questions. Above all they know where to look for game. They made the journey interesting by pointing out spoor & other items and if necessary by cracking a joke. We also became interested in the bird life. The scouts were also great - with fantastic eyes at the night drives.
  • All internal flights and transfers worked well. Accommodation in Vic Falls was good (but not up to bush camp standard!)
We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the trip & camps to anyone.

Norman Carr Safaris:

Dear Ray, Thank you for letting us know how much you enjoyed your stay with us, and we very much hope to see you again before too long!
