Norman Carr Safaris

Welcome to Norman Carr Safaris in the Luangwa Valley of Zambia.

Rustic Zambian safari, walking between bushcamps; or luxury Zambia safari, relaxing in comfort at our safari lodge and our more sophisticated camps? It's your choice!

With our main safari lodge, Kapani, plus four individually designed bushcamps, we pride ourselves on offering a varied range of safari experiences. You will be escorted by a team of Zambia's best safari guides and can choose between a simple, back-to-nature walking safari, journeying from one bushcamp to the next; or alternatively set a slower pace with a longer stay at the main lodge, including plenty of gamedrives, good food and relaxation; complemented by a further stay at one or more of our bushcamps.

We offer an entirely personalised service, providing you with the safari of your choice. The Luangwa Valley is an unspoilt location where the concentration and variety of wildlife, both animal and bird, is unequalled. This is wild, untamed Africa at its best.

Why Zambia?

Zambia, "the Real Africa", is regarded by many as the continent's greatest secret, ranging from the mighty Victoria Falls to the world renowned National Parks of the Luangwa and Zambezi valleys. The fact that the country has, for so long, been largely overlooked as a tourist destination is one of its greatest assets. The wilderness areas are pristine and the country offers its guests views of the African bush that have not changed for centuries.

Why Norman Carr Safaris?

Norman Carr spent over 50 years devoting himself to the development of the South Luangwa National Park. In the 1950s he pioneered walking safaris in the Zambian bush. His legacy is Norman Carr Safaris, where conservation and care of the local community remain a priority, and where guiding is still based on the principles that Norman developed. We are all proud to take responsibility for the legacy left by such a great man.

The guiding team at Norman Carr Safaris is widely regarded to be the most experienced and knowledgeable in Zambia - most of us were trained by Norman himself. The company has set up and is committed to a program of guide exchanges allowing us to expand our knowledge by experiencing similar wilderness operations both in other Parks in Zambia and also around the world.
